Shake Shack is finally in the Philippines.

For those wondering why all the hype: This international burger chain had a humble start as just a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan back in 2001. It has since gained a cult following, evolving into a permanent kiosk in 2004, expanding its initial burgers, hotdogs and fries offerings and opening stores across the world.

And now it’s here. Shake Shack is opening in Manila on May 10, in BGC’s Central Square, with the first 100 guests getting a cool Shack swag.

“As we spent time exploring the unique and eclectic landscape that is Filipino cuisine, we were inspired by the flavors and artisans we met along the way and by the food that they’re passionate about,” shared Shake Shack’s Culinary Director, Mark Rosati. As with the branches all over the globe, the brand continues to feature exclusive menu items that bring local flavors to the spotlight.

In November 2018, they opened a second outpost at Ayala Center’s Park Terraces in Makati. “There are a lot of recipes that my mom used to do when she lived in New York with her now-late sister, and a lot from our travels. She replicates it and makes it her own,” Thorp shares, explaining the restaurant’s Filipino-European cuisine.

Celebrated Magnolia Bakery of New York to open in Manila (GMA News Online)

Whether or not you’ve been to the original Magnolia Bakery in New York City, you’d be ecstatic to know that its sweet treats will soon be available in Metro Manila — at BGC in Taguig on August 22, to be exact.

This particular bakery is basically the one that started the cupcake craze back when it first opened in 1996, and has gained a lot of popularity thanks to pop culture references in movies and TV shows like “Sex and the City,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” and “Saturday Night Live.”

In Manila, it will be known as M Bakery — slightly different name but same food, vibe, and experience. Like the American establishment, it will have an identical look and feel, from the charming vintage décor to the “live theater” area where diners can see cakes and cupcakes being decorated in full view.
